Default Burning Oil Fast

I recently swapped a Brand New LS6 long block into my 02 A4 Camaro.
Mods include
Full Bolt ons
VRX4 Cam 228/230 .588 .592 112 LSA
Ported Fast 92
Yank SS3600
Stock LS6 Heads
the engine currently has 1500 miles I have changed the oil Once since the break in period with Royal Purple 5W-30
this was about 2 wks ago. I checked the oil this morning and it is already at the add oil Mark and looks pretty black already.
Any idea as to what can be causing the large amount of oil consumption?

:Note I have raced the Car hard a few times since the first oil change. the Car is my DD.

Do you have blue smoke in the rearview mirror? Do you have a catch can?

Catch can goes in between the the pcv and the intake so it can't consume the oil that is being sucked in from removing crank case gases. Check out this thread. https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...outing-ok.html
The catch can will allow you to see if the consumption is comming from the pcv system. Also you may just be down a bit on oil due to the rings not being fully seated when you started to get on it. One more thing you can do is remove the MAF and TB and see if the intake has oil in it. The PCV line is right behind the TB.

when you installed the rockers did you put any thread sealer, preferably permatex thread sealer) on the bolts that go over the intake runner. If not this will cause major oil consumption. Made this mistake myself once.

ok so i just pulled it off and stuck my hand in thier...there is not a puddle or anything but it was definitely Greasy/oily in there.
the LS6 block has a different PVC set up so we added extra tubing to link it up to stock.
do you recommend a PVC delete?

LS V8s,

are recommended to use "...10W/30 ILSAC GF2 engine
oil. If this oil is unavailable, use SH, SL or SM engine oil,
spec. with viscosity of 20W/50 or 15W/40...."
(This is copied and pasted from the Owners Handbook, specifications table).

0w and 5w oils are too thin.
10w60 used here in this desert with negligable usage (no top-ups required in 7,000miles).

You don't want to delete the pcv, pulling the crankcase gasses out is a good thing. Just get a catch can and you'll have the pcv working and no more oil in the intake.

It should have ls6 valley cover under the intake with a 90 deg hose bend going to intake behind the TB and from the front of the passenger side valve cover to the TB. driver side has nothing. Catch can are not needed as much or at on if you have ls6 valley cover.
