Default Cam comparo

Finally decided on two cams:

Comp Cam- LSR™ Cathedral Port, 281LR HR13 (231/239 0.617/0.624 113 LSA)
or-
Comp Cam- XFI™ XE-R, XER281HR (232/234 0.595/0.598 112 LSA)

Any experience with either of these grinds or recommendations is much appreciated.

My current cam is a TR224/224/114 with TEA Stage II heads, LS6 intake, Hooker headers w/ 3" ORP.

Thanks.

Anybody? Springs will handle both, but will the larger cam have driveability issues. My bro is experienced with HP Tuner, so that should not be a problem. Also, Comp Cam indicates the second cam is for race only applications.... I mostly cruise with some WOT fun. Thanks for the input.

Made good power and torque... and very driveable. Just looking to take advantage of having the engine refreshed with new pistons and bearings. Stock pistons did not like the nitrous. Btw, I will be selling the TR224 if you are looking for one.... in original box and spec sheet.

I have the exact same cam. I love it for what it is. Just curious how it performed with the heads.....

the 232/234 is basically the TSP torquer v2

a very well used cam
makes good power and tunes to drive very nicely.

i have the v1 of the cam and am happy with it, power range is very useable

Thanks for the feedback.... I decided on the 232/234 cam because the max lift is where my heads are max flowed at .600. My engine builder does not believe the additional wear and stress on the valve train is not necessary. I should see 30-40 hp increase with the new Mahle pistons and degree increases on the cam.... I will post pics when the build is complete probably early 2010 and get it dyno'd in the Spring.

I have the second cam you listed (TSP's Torquer v2). Love it, very streetable, makes good power especially if you have good heads/intake. I'm a 6 speed on stock tune too.

Do some research mate, IIRC Comp says the LSR lobes even though higher lift are easier on the valvetrain than the XER lobes.. Better profiling etc.

Yes. One of the techs at CC indicated the LSR lobes are a new design but I did not confirm how they compared to XER design.
