Default Head gasket question

I am in the process of building an L92 headed 408 (.030" over LQ block) and am not sure which head gasket to run? The L92 head gasket is for a 4.065 bore but I'm not sure of the compressed thickness. I was just going to run the LQ4/9 head gasket which is .051" compressed. I need something close to that to keep my CR of about 11.3 and my quench around .045". I don't want to spend the money on Cometics if I don't have to and I get a hell of a deal with factory parts, so I'd like to stick to Genuine GM if possible. If you guys could help me out with part numbers, bore sizes and compressed thickness of several gaskets, that would be great! Thanks.

You could probably go with a GM MLS 6.0L head gasket. I believe they are ~4.040" bore size. Should be a compressed thickness of .054" or so. They will probably work fine for you. Part Number 12589227. We have them on the shelf if you need a pair!

Wouldn't it be better to use an L92 head gasket with an L92 head? I think they are 4.065"

Compressed thickness is 1.33 mm, or .052" for the L92 and all others except the LS9. This is from the blueprints.

Of course I will! I'm curious to see what she puts down for power too. Any estimates?

It will end up being .005" out after the block is decked to 9.230".
