Default ms3 flycut?

do i needa fly cut if i run a ms3 with prc stage 2.5 5.3 heads

You don't but its always good to measure just incase. And I'm pretty sure you need to have the valves sunk in order for the ms3 to fit

And as a note, the heads MUST be setup originally for the MS3. If you get some used heads that weren't built for the MS3, you'll have clearance issues!

my pistons had marks on them from the valves with stock heads and ms3

What would be the biggest cam u could run with those heads if they weren't set up for the MS3?

not to hijack but i have a stupid noob question... to flycut a piston? what is that process? is it a diy or u have a machine shop do it?

You would take them to a machine shop... I am sure you wouldn't have the tools needed to do that.

I am installing my ms3 on stock heads in 3 weeks!!!

I didnt have to flycut on ms3..I don't see how you guys hit the pistons at just over .600 lift on stock stuff. Must be stretching valves!

its not just the lift that is the issue. Its a combination of lift, duration and ICL. Also, whats an acceptable clearance to you? .100 on intake AND exhaust?

It really depends how the heads were setup when originally sold. The best way to find out what you can run comfortably, is to measure the free valve drop (distance the valve travels from its seat until it hits the piston at TDC) on intake and exhaust. Based on those numbers, we can make a recommendation.
