I have a 2000 block and currently changing heads. I checked the thickness of the stock gaskets and I get 0.059 after they were used.

You can run a GM MLS gasket or a set of Cometic head gaskets. The GM thickness does vary a bit. I usually find them around .054" thick. If you want closer to .050" thick, we have the Cometics on the shelf in a 3.910" bore, .051" thick. Let me know if we can help!

How much comp can be gained by reducing the thickness by 0.010?????
Is it worth the extra 50 dollars to go to 0.040's

Thanks
