Default Dart Pro 1 heads question

Hey guys, Ive got my eye on a set of dart pro 1 cnc ported heads. They started out as the 205cc head and have been ported to 225cc. What is the general concensus on these heads? Worth the money? I would be putting them with a 24X/24X 6XX/6XX lift cam. th350/4400 stall/4.10 gear/28 tall tire. car weight of about 3200 without me in it. Also do they use stock rockers? just looking for opinions on them.

I have 225cc Dart Pro ported, polished and ceramic coated heads on my SS. They flow really well and are great for the money.

Depends on the port job but done right they are as good as any out there....Dart makes a 225cc head too so make sure what you are getting.... They are good on a 3.9" motor but shine on a 4.0"+....

Who did the port work. There were some issues with the port work being done when these heads first came out, might want to search on that.

Good call. I got one of the 3rd set of DART 225s made for my motor, and optied to sell them to a buddy after I had the heads flowed, and after extensive port work they did make 460RWHP on a 232/234 346 deal I did for him. They are a good head, but need help right out of the box imo.

No one ever said a thing about them until I bought a set and complained of oil consumption. It started immediately after we installed brand new Dart 225's. After a year of it using a quart every 1000 miles, I had them pulled and they found the valveguides had 6-8 thousandths clearances when they should have had 0-1. I had to have them resleeved and all the valvepsprings properly shimmed for correct height/pressure as they were all over the place. I'd have a reputable machine shop check all that before installing them.

I had a very early set and had no problems with them at all. It seems that the quality control went down later in production as I have seen a number of engine builders who no longer want to use them due to valve guides and other issues.

They aren't the *budget* head as their initial low price alludes. They can make good power when prepped right but they require a lot of attention to detail when machining. When all is said and done, once set up properly, they cost almost as much as a set of CNC ported AFR/TFS heads...
