Default Can my 5.7 ltr .030 milled heads be used on 383 stroker?

I dont want to take the compression up to high or inhibit the flow with the 5.7 ltr
heads. Any input would be great.

The 5.7 head can be used.

my .02

I think all things being equal an LS6 head or the 01+ 6.0 head will make more power. the 6.0 seems to favor mid lift flow more than an LS6 head.

I think TEA has the best 6.0 head with their 2.5 porting. Their are others that are good too.

It matters on what piston compression you go with. They ussually range from 11-1 to 12-1 with stock cc(66 cc I think) combustion chambers and head gaskets.
So if you order 11.5-1 pistons but have the heads milled, you might be over 12-1 compression.

Careful to watch your lift/duration values with .030 milling. Depending on the cam you use, P/V may rear its ugly head.

Most aftermarket forged pistons have huge valve reliefs. So there shouldn't be a P/V problem.

My heads are already milled .030 and I am wanting to keep them if possible to save on the expense of another set of heads. I guess I would need get some of the reverse dome pistons to lower the cr. Curious though how does the stroker increase the cr? Doesnt the piston still come up to the same spot as it would normally or does it come up a bit higher with the stroker crank?

Laymens terms: Yes it does. But it starts from deeper in the hole which means it has more air to compress into the same space = more compression.

Ahh makes alot of sense, thanks for the input.

a 346 is looking cheaper and better everyday... Seems to go stroker I'll have to swap heads and cam where as if I stay 346 Ill be fine with what I have and will save probably 2-3k in parts.

Did you ever find out what was wrong with your motor?

Not yet,, I have inquired to several people locally about a leakdown and they say it will be a waste of my money cause I'll have to pull the motor anyways. They are probably correct but I just got a compressor and ordered a leakdown tester so I can be sure myself. Once the leakdown is here I'll have a better idea. I kinda want to start pulling the motor but I suppose I should wait for the leakdown on the slim chance that it is a head gasket and not a bottom end problem.

I agree but I cant justify all the extra cash that I will need to spend on heads , cam ,etc. I may as well keep the stuff I have now since it is meant for stock displacement.

It will still make more power with the same cam and heads on a stroker then with a 346. the heads should be fine and you could see how the stroker works with the cam in there and then change it later if it tames it down to much.
