Default My goal is 400 rwhp w/o heads

can it be done? I have a 98 t/a m6. the cam i wanting to go with will be a 232-240 598-604, i know i will have to put headers on the car. but the mods i have now are all your free mods with 4.10's, lid,and a spec stage 3 clutch.. Can you tell me what you think this car will make? im hoping its over 400 rwhp, but i was wondering if it being a 98 will have an effect on it. I havnt ran the car yet at the track, but my buddy's ss runs 12.50's @110 and we are door to door on the street. also will the ls6 intake help me that much? is it worth the money? Thanks for your info in advance, My ultimate goal is over 450rwhp with heads and cam. oh and one more thing, later down the road when i get heads, what will be the best head to go with that cam. thanks again

talk to mark. my ole bucket a long time ago made 385 rwhp with a smaller weaker cam than yours, shitty stock catback, redneck y pipe (not mandrel bent) and a moser 12 bolt. also there are a few other boltons that are really working. electric water pump etc. the ls6 is worth decent power, esp on the big end. if you can afford it, the new intakes will really work well, but for teh money, the ls6 is just fine. 400 rwhp should be easily made. the patriot heads have worked well with that cam.

theres honestly over a million threads just like this " how to get 400rwhp on stock heads"

yes it can be done with your car. you need full bolt ons, full exhaust and any of these cams..tr230, mti x1, g5x2 or g5x3, tsp 231/237.
these seem to be the most popular cams right now. if everything is working right its pretty much a garuantee you'll have 400+rwhp. yes get the ls6 or the new LSX.
by time you get heads who knows what will be the best heads. check these out if you want 450...TEA, MTI, GTP, absolute, patriot performance, JPR & cartek..these are the ones i can think of.

400 RWHP can be done with the LS1 intake. It is rare, but we have pulled off a best of 402 RWHP with our 232/228 camshaft on a '00 Z28 with the LS1 intake and stock cylinder heads! The reverse-split grind does help to take advantage of the intake restriction, though. I don't know how the large traditional split will do with the LS1 intake. That cam will do very well with an LS6 intake bolted on, no doubt. We have numerous graphs of 400+ RWHP with our 231/237 with stock cylinder heads, and we've seen a best of 413 RWHP. That same camshaft has done 451 RWHP with the Patriot stage II LS6-style cylinder heads. FYI, we do have our 231/237 camshaft, cam package, and heads/cam packages on special this month.

Feel free to give us a call if you have any questions.

Thanks!

Brian

TSP231/237 cam, all bolt ons, and an ls6 intake will get you 400rwhp. Add the LS6 style patriot heads and that will get you close to your 450rwhp goal. Check the sig for proof... that's with no Electric Water Pump and turning 17x11's on the dyno.

Gonna be very hard w/the LS1 intake and the old 843 series heads...they were a bit more restrictive than the newer 241 head cars....

yes. get a mild cam, headers, intake, exhaust and it shouldn't be hard at all. Focus on where you make your power though rather than a peak unleses you just like looking at dyno printouts.
