push rod length

push rod length looking at my pushrod checker it seems to like the 7.300 length. does this seem right for a 5.3 with 243 heads shaved .030 with a .040 head gasket???
How did you measure?? Are you using Comp's 7702-1 pushrod length tool? How many turns did it take to get from your zero lash length back to the fully screwed-in length? 7.300" isn't out of the realm of possibility, but it's not terribly common either.

yes im using comp. length checker. the 7.400 is way too long. turning it a full turn down gives me 7.350 correct? as the rocker arm is torqued it compresses the spring a little bit. so i tried another 1/4 turn which gives the 7.325. still tries to compress the spring. another 1/4 turn gives should give 7.300. it just does touch the rocker arm. does this sound correct?
So you're using a known 7.400" pushrod and using the .012" per 1/4 turn on the rocker trick? Or are you putting the lifter on the base circle and running the checker tool out to zero lash with the rocker arm torqued to 22ftlbs, and then counting how many turns on the tool it takes to get back to the short length of 6.800"??

Verdad Gallardo 7.350" will set you up with right at .075" preload. That should work fine for the GM lifters, if that's what you're running.
