Thunder Racings Cheater cam LS1
Hey I was wondering if any of you have used TRs cheater camshaft? I want to know what you thought of it and how easy it was to tune. Also how was it power wise?

My gf has the 224r with a yank 3600 in her TA.
It drives like stock with more power throughout the entire rpm range.
It has a nice steady lope, but nothing to attract too much attention.
I would recommend it for a tame DD that still gets great mpg.

lol car i posted about on here was a 35th le too! Im not a fan of AFR heads i think they are over priced but i hear this cam works great with then! Makes good power and a good combo. You can ever go wrong with a yank SS3600 stall
here is my friends car b4 he sold it

Well with my set up which cam would yield more power and better drivability? The cheater cam or the old man cam? Those are the two im looking at. I would think they will both be very easy to tune also, the guy who is tuning my car uses HP Tuners but he has only been doing it for 6 months or so. I havent heard any feed back on his shop so i have been skeptical about using him.

Thanks for the feedback, not bad #'s on that LE with supporting mods and stock heads. TR sells the AFR's fully prepped as part of the package including the cam. Looks like he was using the older version there's a slightly bigger Cheater cam.
" CheaTR v.3" - 219/230 .607/.604 117 LSA vs. the 214/230 .601/.575 117 LSA he was using.
To the OP
"Old Man Cam" - 214/220 .600/.523 115 LSA
"CheaTR v.3" - 219/230 .607/.604 117 LSA
I'm leaning towards the Cheater myself & TR themselves posted that some guys left on stock tune, prob on M6, A4 needs some tuning.

I wonder what the spring life difference would be when using the Cheatr V.3 VS. something more spring friendly..like the GT2-3? I wonder if the more aggressive lobes of the Cheatr cam and resulting decrease in spring longevity, would be worth the extra low end torque over a more spring friendly cam..
