I know both those cams do sound like sewing machines in all clips I've heard.

I read here someone installed yella tera (sp?) rockers, and the noise was reduced a lot. Maybe this was due to the quality of the Yella ones, maybe due to the fact they are lighter, maybe both, who knows. Mods do make a difference in volume.

216/220 will pull to around 6400rpm, great torque cam ,and has some lope. You will need tuning with an A4 , I needed misfire codes turned off and some idle corrections , just to back up somethings that some people have said or recommended I installed 02 ls6 springs and after 400 miles the springs are going into valve float at about 6000rpm for myself , 918s, sdpc springs which are manley are a much better choice.

I have a Comp 216/220 .579 .589 114LSA cam in my TA and it is a great sleeper cam. It dynod 382 and 37x through the 10 bolt. I love this cam I have over 45K miles on it with Comp 918's and it runs like a top. I've got hundreds of passes on it and drive it about 110 miles per day to and from work. I have an M6 with all the bolt-ons and stock heads. I have ran a best of 12.19 @ 112.7x with it. It normally MPH's in the 113's and has bested a 115 MPH on street tires. It peaks @ 6400 RPM.

I bought this cam b/c I was told it would have perfect drivability and it does. I crank my car up cold and drive, no wait.

There are a lot better cams to choose from for performance, but if you want perfect drivability this cam is great, drives like a stock cam.

.579 and .589 lift huh on a 216 and 220 duration??? I haven't seen those numbers in the Comp XER catalog? Are those right? Not doubting you, just wanting to make sure you didn't typo that's all.

even with a 1.85 rocker the lift is only .570 and .578 respectively??? Hmm just wondering that is all.

Yes it was a custom grind that JPR had for a customer that backed out of it, I too was like 579 589 what the heck was that but I got the yellow cam card here and thats what it says, when I first put it in it did have the sewing machine sound, but it's quieted down over the 45K miles that are on the 918s.
I bought it for 200 bucks new so I didn't complain. It is a VERY high lift cam but works great, daily driven over 100+ miles a day It propelled my 3750 Raceweight TA to a 12.19

The most common 216/220 I've seen are like 216/220 .54x .54x 114, they normally dyno'd about 365-375 with all the boltons on stock heads. I would like a see a before and after dyno of a 216/220 after someone put on a set of stage II heads and re-dyno'd.

Would this be a decent blower cam?

I would go with something with alittle more split personally. Something like a 212/220 or something like that. It would work but I think the larger split would work alittle better. The 216/220 split probiably will work fairly well with a modest shot of nitrous.
