Default Torquer V2 cam want heads to raise compression

I have a Torquer V2 cam (232/234, .595"/.598") with all supporting mods. I want a set of heads that will raise my compression ratio and flow better of course. I am thinking about buying a set of 243's and milling them down, but I'm not sure how much milling can be done before I have to worry about piston to valve clearance issues. I would like to keep my budget around $1500. Let me hear any incite on other heads that work well with this cam.

Have you thought about TSP's PRC 2.5 5.3L heads?...This would be a pretty good head for that cam...I sure there are plenty of graphs posted up with this combo...

5.3 heads milled .030 with a .040 head gasket should be around 11.5 or less. I ran that with my 232/234 cam and made 450/400

You had no piston to valve clearance issues? Because that is exactly what I'm looking for... more info on anything else done to the heads.

Another vote for PRC stage 2.5 5.3 heads. Seems like they're exactly what you're looking for, and in your budget.

I guess my real question is, how far can I mill down either the 5.3 heads or LS6 heads before I run into valve clearance issues?

I really don't think so if they are 2.02/ 1.57 valve 5.3 heads...... I run a cam slightly smaller and had to run unmilled with MLS gaskets to safely clear......

I running the same cam with 243s milled .028" and cometic .040" gaskets. My PTV clearance was .090" IIRC.

I believe TSP will recess the valves on the 5.3 stg 2.5's to give more clearance on big cams. Give them a call to see what they recommend.

Matt @ Texas Speed told me 62cc LS6 heads would safely clear with the Torquer v2, which is what I went with. These should net me 11:1. You could probably go less....but this was a "safe" figure.

There's a thread where a guy ran the same cam and all the bolt-ons. The 5.3L heads netted him some pretty nice power! Not bad gains at all for a little over $1100!
