...great stuff when you only want to use a tool once. Much better quality can be had at Northern Tool for a few bucks more. They have low profile jacks.

I use cheap jack stands, but I use TWO on each corner, and leave the jack under load for safety.
My car is so low a jack won't fit under it, so I built some wooden ramps to ride up on, and I keep one in the trunk at all times.

Yes they are good. I have the silver low profile jack from HF and my dad has had one for about 8-10 years of extensive use, and not a problem. I would suggest getting the saddle pad also, it is on the right side of the add. I like it cause it won't let the jack mar up the bottom side of the car.

I have 2 pairs of sears SUV jack stands. I think each pair is rated at 6 tons, cost $35. Very sturdy.
While we're on the subject this HF jack worked great swapping my clutch and also my rear axle:

I have herd so many people say you need the front wheels 2 feet in the air ,so I bought 12 tons, cheaper at northern.I was able to slip the headers in only using my 6 tons.be careful where you get your big jacks.most of the jacks made in china blow the seals out after a year of use.

Funny how people jump on bandwagons. Thread headed in a direction of saying, products are junk, now, products are great.
I stand behind my original post, harbor freight is junk. You guys might trust half built products, and they may work, but Ill be damned if I trust my skin to anything but top notch quality.

IMHO Northern Tool is better than HF. Company I work for buys crap from HF all the time. They continuously waste money on parts when they could buy a quality product once, more money up front, idiots. Luckily, these tools that fail, fail somewhat safely. No jack stands or anything, more or less grinders where the motors fail, or impact wrenches that leak.

As I said in my previous post, they may work, but I would not trust my skin to a product that is inferior. It just does not make logical sense to risk for such low cost. Sure, if you will not be going under the vehicle, or if they are going to fail, you would always be out of dangers way, sure, go for it, I wouldn't, but who am I to tell you how or where or why to spend your money. Jack stands and jacks typically lift vehicles for better under side access. Once again, I am not trusting my skin to inferior products built to inferior quality control standards, and inferior material standards.

My bandwagon comment is directed in a more broad manner than just this thread. It is funny how threads sway to the masses, not truth in technical information.
