More Bad Luck.... I need to vent...................
I just picked up my LQ4 block from the machine shop after having it bored, new cam bearing installed and new pistons fitted to the rods.
I tried stabbing the cam and much to my dismay the 2 last bearing edges are rolled over from installation!
Oh well, I'm certainly not going to bring it back, I'll just do it myself I say. All's well, until I examine the rod/pistons. Half of the pistons are pressed on with the wrong orientation! I am so pissed.
Why is it so hard to find quality work? I wish I was closer to Costa Mesa R&D in So Cal.
At least I received my Torquer 3 cam and associated goodies from TSP. They will always have my business.

I went back today and spoke with the shop owner and told him that I expected a refund for the work that was incorrectly done. After some heated discussion he agreed.
He stated it was the first LS series motor they had done and his techs were not familiar with them.
Another lesson learned. Research your shop and ask a few questions.

Thats scary man!!! Sounds like you have machinists in your neck of the woods that we have here in AZ. Only two decent machine shops that I know of here. I will be sending my block out to be machined. Good news on the refund. Sucks how it has become so difficult to find skilled shops these days.

(On a side note) BTW, thanks for your input on true synthetics 355lt1. We used to run Redline gear lube in Buell tranny's. Its some wierd feeling stuff. But it holds up!

You bet! Yeah i have been with redline for about 16 years. Very good product. If you get a chance check out there new site. Jay Leno is featured in a video thats now on their page. He has used them for years and just recently they (both jay and redline) decided to do a tv spot. Better luck on future machine work!
