Won't start
Ok, just installed a new engine and it wont start, it cranks but won't fire. It ran fine before the new engine. It is a 1998 camaro ss with a 1999 firehawk ls1 engine and a vortech g-trim. I can't hear the fuel pump priming and I was wondering if that's the issue but why would that have anything to do with it since I never touched the pump during the new engine install? My injector and coil harnesses are plugged in correctly and the cam and crank sensor are plugged in correctly.

If you don't think the fuel pump is priming grab a 6" piece of wire and jump the relay, you should hear the fuel flowing if the pump is working, if fuel checks out then check spark.
I'm assuming you installed a new fuel pump to go along with the vortech, check the wiring and or wiring harness.

I had the same exact problem before and it was a ground wire. check every wire very carefully. Ill bet thats what it is. im trying to remember where the wire was from on mine. I know it dident have an end on it and I touched it to the rail and the car fired up. just dont remember if the end got ripped off on me and it was a rear head one or somewhere else.

I have a 98 z28 i just put a 6.0 in and i know for sure theres 3 ground wires on the back of the cylinder head of my harness. Also something that can happen out of the blue, check the fuel filter if its clogged it wont start. One more things is if it is getting fuel it could be flooded. Hold the gas pedal to the floor before starting then try and turn the car over. This cuts the fuel off and it should fire.
