lastest cam trends?
Not trying to get a p _ _ _ ing match here over "best cams" etc. but I am looking to put a cam in my wife's "semi" DD. She has all bolt ons with gears and 3200 TC. I'm trying now to find out what heads she has, since the car dyno'd pretty high for her combo, and when the tuner looked for the "cause", it had ALL of the #s ground off the pads I will try to find out which heads she has and go from there.
MY QUESTION:
I have been leaning toward the very popular 224/228 cam that has shown to make good power on mildly built engines in the past. HOWEVER, while recently speaking to a tuner, he mentioned that although that cam was good a few years ago, there were some guys making the "next level" cam that made even better power without compromising durability or driveability.
What's the latest greatest "mid-level" cam trend?

Looking for somthing for my wife's "semi" DD.
It has all bolt-ons with 3.42 gears and 3200 stall.
It also has some mystery heads that I have to investigate. The casting #s have been ground off the pads, and it since made close to 360 rwhp, uncorrected, on a 98* day, the tuner felt it had MAY have some superior heads.
I have e-mailed a couple of the vendors to see what they have to offer

I think you are splitting hairs...newer lobes are not going to give much more power maybe 5 rwhp at most for the same size duration...
sounds like you are on a good path with tr 224/228 or maybe 228R
