Well technically your crank is "pushing" your car. I'm confused though. Your not wanting your car to move while in drive and you let off of the brakes?

No I want it to move. It's just that it will like "jump" instead of ease forward normally.

I'm no transmission specialist, but maybe something to do with your torque converter?! What are your rpm's at with brake applied versus when u let off of the brake? Are your rpm's jumping too? Or is it just the drivetrain?

It's called cam surge. It's typical with cams, especially bigger ones. Tuning should take care of this issue.

Can someone explain cam surge. I hbe never experienced this in any cam car I've driven or rode in. although all have been manuals. Is this typical with auto's and cams?

A few things can cause cam surge. One of them is that your idle/partial throttle airflow tables are set wrong. Also you might have a stall too small for your cam. The thing with tunes is that you have to have a street tune. Usually a good tuner will disengage your MAF this helps to set up your idle and partial throttle. He will set the air tables and then after that is done, he will activate the MAF again to tweak your idle and partial throttle air tables, then go on to your WOT tune. This way of tuning will take a lot of the cam surge out if you have the right stall and right size MAF for your application.

Now a good tuner can get your tune spot on with a street tune only. If you decide to do a dyno tune after wards usually that is for tweaking and WOT.

there is way more to tuning than this but this is a quick overview.
