My old Comp. 216/220 cam gave me about 35 to 40 whp.
You're stretching the 2-3 gains imo, maybe in conjuction with a tune or headers you'll get 40rwhp. I could possibly see 35rwhp with the comp depending on the lobes. FWIW, I make 426/386 with very similar specs to the v3 and trap 124mph on motor.

LS12FAST4U,

Going back to April here. As promised. I got my '05 CTS-V cammed with the CheaTR cam. Didn't go with the Power Bond U/D pulley just a straight up swap and tune at CMS. Numbers were 374hp and 398tq at the rear wheels.

Since having this installed it has been much more fun to drive. MPG took a little hit but not much. Some of it may have to do with a heavier right foot? Right now the car is down as I think that I have broke a valve spring (Patriot Extreme Gold). Been on vacation and on work trip but I'll have it back on the road soon enough.

Sorry to bring the thread back to the Spring time.

Default Zombie thread bump!

I bought an LS1 car with a burnt piston, and it had the CheaterV3 in it already. I'm thinking of keeping it because it's free. Patriot stage 2 LS6 heads, Mahle flattops, stock manifolds, 2-1 collector, cats, mufflers. Pretty mild, but in a 2700lb 240sx it should scoot.

Injector size recommendations? I was thinking the stockers may have been close to maxed and one clogged a little, causing lean/detonation. All other pistons looked perfect.

Shelton,

Holy Moly. Zombie Thread to say the least! Don't know what to tell you about injectors. I'm still running stock because I'm in Cali and I fear the CARB monster. My car is still running great on the CheaTR V3. The post I put about the valve spring last year was wrong. It was actually a broken rocker arm bearing. Got the rocker arm replaced and no problems since.

I would contact a reputable performance shop to get an idea about your injectors. As I stated in the past, I used Cunningham Motor Sports. Ryne and Mike have been up front about my questions. I'm sure they'll give you some good advice. Or if you know a good performance shop by all means hit 'em up.

Merry Christmas everyone. Let's do this again in Dec 2012, Ha!

Good luck.

I run 42lb injectors personally at~78% duty cycle, the stock 28lbers were at 113% fwiw

Thanks for the reply! I was thinking that the stockers would be too small. The guy i bought the car from said he made 374rwhp, then a month later... engine asplode!!! He was also running with no air filter and only the screen on the MAF to "protect" things. Said the car made almost 30 more hp that way. Some people.

I got some new ford 30lb SVO's recently, so i'll probably break in the new engine with the old injectors and throw in the 30's when i get it tuned.

Just wanted to update this thread. My car picked up around 40 whp after installing a custom cam very similar to this, Diamond Racing forged pistons (-8.6cc dish)/forged steel rods, and stock heads milled to maintain a "stock" compression ratio to compensate for the slight dish on the pistons (essentially a stock motor with heavier internals), shorty headers and stock cats (instead of manifolds+gutted), and a built 4L60E with a 3200 stall converter (instead of stock). I'm running 42lb Delphi injectors and they are not near their limits. Ryne at CMS said my fuel pump is on its way out and to bring it back for a retune after replacing it, so it may pick up more...

I used to have this combo in my car. The problem most people that have it don't want to speak up about it cause it tends to end up in grudge racing set ups. The v.3 was mated with stock casting ls1 heads that were hand ported. car put down roughly 380 hp through an unlocked converter. with headers, y pipe, stock muffler, ls6 intake, stock lid and the heads n cheater cam. car picked up insane amounts of whp on small shots of spray tho. lol. 100 shot pills pick up ~150ish and a 150 shot pills picked up~210
