Default TSP 228R and 241 Heads?

Hey guys I was going to do a heads and cam swap. But I am running closer on money, than I thought I would be. So I was curious to see what kind of power should I expect if I just did a cam swap on a 01 trans am. I am going to use my stock 241 heads. My mods are in my signature. I look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with!

What size cam will you be running? I'm running stock 241's and making 404rwhp even through a 383 bottom-end. With the right size cam you could still make anywhere in the 360-380rwhp range depending on the cam size.

I'm not 100% sure but with a 228cam I would say somewhere around mid360rwhp.

If you p&p the heads you should get 400+ with a good tune.

Way to low. Should be around 380+whp with full boltons.

Sorry didn't see that it was a M6. 380 is very reasonable but the 241's will defiently hold you back. Believe me I know.

i made 383 rw with the 228r . mods were 1 3/4 lts, hooker single 3" catback, lid. with your tds and lighter flywheel it will probably make around 390 rw or so give or take 5-10 rw. some dynos are more forgiving than others though but that should be close.

any work being done on the heads? if not, some where in the 385-405 range, if you mill 'em down good and/or use some cosmetic gaskets for extra compression plus a good port job, i dont see why 415-420 wouldnt be possible. (assuming the heads are done by someone who knows what they are doing). its all about the combo rather than just slapping parts together, so if you get the heads done, go custom grind cam for sure.

check out what damian just got out of a similiar setup:

Nice guys, I am impressed with some of the results everyone is getting with cam only setups. School tuition is coming up here soon, and so is summer so I know ill be investing alot of money in the public pool and the Hyvee liquor department  I was going to go with the PRC 5.3L stage 2.5 heads but thats at least another 1k for them so Im thinking of just buying the cam and supporting mods.

You could mill your heads and p&p them for less than 1K.

You should gain in the neighborhood of 40rwhp with that cam swap. Have your stock throttle body ported as well. I've tested them to gain close to 7 rwhp and the throttle response is also improved. While the crank pulleys off might as well replace it with a nice under-drive unit.

Yeah I have pretty much decided to be just doing the cam swap. Do heads later on when I get more money.

get a set of 42lbs injectors for it too, 400whp should be within ur reach. u also have larger LT 's then me so I don't see y u won't hit that mark, I also had my cam cut on a 111 lsa but I don't think that will make much differnce
