Default MS3 guys

I just installed a ms3 in my bolt on TA. the tuner has spent almost 10hrs tuning. I am curious about the driveability of this cam. I know its a big cam, but how should it drive? it isn't the greatest right now. I can live with it, but just curious what others thought. Thanks

also, I put 65# inj in it b/c they were out of stock of 42# and I got them for the same price. are the inj too big? could that be causing the issues?

Anyone? Drove it to work this morning. The drives fine under accel, but as soon I let off the gas it wants to surge and buck in every gear....

well I agree, but the tuner has spent over 9 hrs on this tune. said he has never seen this before (has been doing it a very long time). I am just wondering if the inj are too big?

Imo overkill on the injectors, but what do I know I'm carbureted, and it runs good. 128 mph on motor 136 on a 100 shot.

The only issues I have with my MS3 are when the motor is cold, it idles fine but needs over 2k rpm when driving, otherwise it will surge. Once it's warmed up, it's fine.

I hear ya there. My car surges a little under 2k and my cam is low 230's duration. I need to get my tune ironed out a bit and it sounds like OP you do too. Hope you get it to where it's enjoyable to drive ALL the time.

well the tuner has spent 9 hrs on it. I have already took it back to him once. I am thinking if he hasn't gotten it right after 9 hrs hes not going too.

anyone have thoughts on the inj. I know they are over kills, but would they be causing the problem?

It sounds like your tuner hasnt ironed out the injectors, they are overkill, but a good tuner can make it run like stock injectors. My neighbor has an 03tt cobra, with 160lb injectors and streetability is pretty damn close to stock even with his custom cams. I don't know your tuner but maybe try someone else...

The injectors are not the problem imo, they can be scaled down... All you have done is left your self room for growth in that area. a speed density tune should get rid of the low speed issues... Your tuner prolly didnt offer that option because it takes a lot of time to get right.

The injectors are certainly not the problem. It is 99% most likely the tune. I had to take my old cammed car back to EPP three times before Brent finally got it all dialed in.

Is he only tuning on the dyno or is he actually driving the car too? I have found once the data log just driving the car the tuner can really nail a good tune down. That is just my experience anyway.

Take it back to the tuner.

You have given him hundreds of dollars, you deserve a good tune. I wouldn't stop until it's nailed down.

gotta go with the tune being the problem...I have the same size cam with no issues anywhere in the whole powerband...

something doesn't add up on the tune 9 hrs and it still runs like crap...I would go somewhere else

you should have no probelm im running mibne without a tune for now and it really dosent buck the only time isin first but i just feather the clutch and it dosent buck at all...
you can try changine you gears to 373 or 410 that should do the trick
and if its an auto u need to change ur stall converter...

I would think it is the combination of big injectors and the tuner.

A speed density tune is in my opinion a little easier on a NA car. If you are tuning you should be tuning the VE (speed density) first then go to your MAF after that has been tuned.
