Default Front main oil gasket

Ok having a very hard time getting the front main oil gasket out of the front cover. Anyone got any ideas to get that SOB out? Tried the two 2x4's, no luck, tried prying it out, no luck and really dont want to break the cover. Anyone????

Hammer and a punch. They can be stubborn sometimes. Be sure to support just outside of the seal so you don't crack the cover.

Thanks, ill try that when i get home!! Now i just need to figure out a way to get the Oil pump pickup tube bolt back in. Got it out but **** i cant get the thing back in and dont have enought room under the car to drop the pan. Anyone got any advice on how to get it back in with out dropping the pan?? The pump is in and bolted up.

I had to beat on my front seal with a punch and BFH for a while before it finally popped out. The new one went right in, though.

I don't see how you could get the bolt in without at least dropping the pan down about an inch. I don't even think I could get a wrench on mine much less get my fingers in there when it was bolted up.

You HAVE to drop the pan down AFAIK to get the bolt back in.

What makes it a little easier is to take a piece of mechanics wire and wrap it around the bolt all the way up by the head. That way you have a way to hold it/get it in place while trying to get it started. Once you get it going the wire is thin enough you can just pull it off by hand.
