Bigger isnt always the answer.

I would go with a wider LSA. As to which cam between those 2....
Apples to apples in some aspects. MS4 is gonna be healthier on the intake side as well as contain either 18.5° or 16.5° depending on your LSA. Currently you have 18.5°.
Now if you could get it ground on a 115 that would be completely tailored for a nitrous dependant engine.

MS3 - 237/242 .603/.609 112, 113, or 114
MS4 - 239/242 .649/.609 111 or 112

Out of all the choices on the MSX cams IMO, you picked the least nitrous friendly one. Not that it wont react to nitrous in a great way though, because most traditional splits do. Im not going to vote, because I can't give you an good opinion off of those 2 cams alone. If you are worried about the one you already have I would look into getting a custom grind tailored to your n2o needs.

No, I wasnt saying it was a bad idea. I think he is after better ET's. Just giving him what I know about cams and nitrous reaction. Magicsticks love the crap outta some nitrous! They are traditional split cams and commonly refered to as a nitrous grind. The bad idea is not having the fuel delivery along with a hefty shot. If you have that bridge crossed then its fine. Built motor would be a plus in this case too, but not 100% necessary. Just don't be shocked if something lets go on that stock shortblock.

OP - Don't take this as me saying you screwed up by getting the MS4. I was just telling you what I would do. To each their own in the end.

Seems a bit conflicting but the bigger intake may seem appealing since you are probably running a single plane intake of some sort. That MS4 may be more ideal for you than I was thinking afterall. To bad that you can only choose from a 111 or 112 on that cam.
A 115 is what I would have it custom ground on. Like a 239/242 .649/.609 115 if you could have them custom grind it.

I had a MS3 on a 114 on stock bottomend. If your on stock pistons be careful, possibly be ready to flycut. I had PRC heads made for that cam and touched 4 valves on pistons revving at 6500. It left the most faint imprint and didn't break anything luckily. Both cams will respond about the same to the bottle, just the MS4 might make just a handful more power overall. Most nitrous cams I have seen including custom grinds have been in the 114-5LSA range though like orangeappeel said. Having a custom ground MS4 spec'd cam with a 115 will be a hell of a fit though. I would love to see that cam in action though

I moved to a 408 afterwards and reused my PRCs and MS3 (114LSA) knowing it is going to react very well to a bottle when applied.

Lol, I am just a degenerate moderator on here. I am not a sponsor or a cam grinder.

You want to contact TSP with anything regarding the MSX cams. Here is a step in the right direction:

Address:
Texas Speed & Performance, LTD.
329 East HWY 62/82
Wolfforth, TX 79382
806-866-0734

Hours:
M-F 9:30am-6:00pm CT.

----------------------------------------------------

Generally a wider LSA 114, 115, 116 is going to be a better choice for a bigger shot of nitrous. Now it was a 125 or something close to that I would say it doesnt really matter which LSA you have it cut on. Or your current one would still be perfectly fine for it. Technically. It is just fine though.

If your looking for a straight nitrous cam I would go with something custom for sure. There are alot of good off-the-shelf grinds but it sounds like you are looking for the best. Custom would be the way to go. Call up or PM Thunder Racing, TSP, Vengenence etc... and tell them what you want to do with what mods you have so on and so forth.

But to answer the question about getting an MS4 with a 116 will mean you will have to flycut without a doubt. It's just way to big of a cam unless you have forged pistons with valve reliefs. Then you might be ok but it would still depend on how big they are. The MS3 on a 114 will provide a little better mid-range for sure and know from experience but I am not a cam guru like most.

Honestly, you probably will not even notice a difference if you swap. Keep what you have and plan out some research with a professional cam grinder.

Unless your spraying 250 or more you dont really need to worry about a "nitrous" camshaft.
