Default How to tell if patriot performance heads are the real deal?

Just wondering what visual cues there are on Patriot performance heads from an on-car perspective. Reason I ask is I have a friend who bought a vette and he was told thats what heads were on it.. it's 243s for sure... but I've got another buddy who I know for sure has a set of the Patriot 243s and where '243' was it was grinded down and patriot cut 'LS6' in its place. Also on the side of the passenger side head it says 'Patriot Performance'... not so much on my buddy's car who was told they were Patriots...

Any help?

Personally, I'm not sure, but Patriot Performance would know. Although, I'd imagine someone will chime shortly with an answer.

I intend to call them tomorrow during business hours, but thought I would ask around on here a bit first.

I have some & all they say as far as can remember is 243. i'll have to take a look tomorrow & see if it says LS6 anywhere. i don't think so though. you can't see anything in this pic. i've had them for a while they may do something different now.

They had LS6 style and they had LS6. Some were engraved some weren't. My set had 243 on them and didn't have Patriot anywhere. If you doubt they are ported, pull the intake and look down the runner. Like all the budget CNC'd heads, the tool path is extremely rough and it's obvious they are CNC'd. They spend less time on the CNC machine that way and cost less because of it. I wish they did a better job.

Could we remove a rocker bolt and be able to look down and see if the hole goes into the runner? Seems like most ported heads have the rocker arm bolts exposed in the runner.

You can definately try that. If you have a pen light you might be able to see in there.

I was thinking I'd use a paper clip or something to measure how deep it went. Pretty much all ported heads are like this, correct?

I would call Patriot. It depends on when the heads were made. I believe, and I might be wrong, that some say Patriot and others don't. Mine have Patriot engraved on one side of each head however.
