Oil in coolant. Ideas?
I've searched around and I'm just throwing in the towel here...I've got a '99 LS1 with 96k. This evening I discovered a small amount of what appeared to be engine oil on the coolant dipstick. There is, however, no coolant in the engine oil (as I would expect if it were a head gasket leak).
If there is indeed engine oil in the coolant, but no coolant in the engine oil, what is leaking? I'm going to have the coolant flushed and the engine pressure tested tomorrow. I'm hoping that this is just a result of the coolant needing to be changed BADLY.

Ah...bingo. I'm pretty sure that '99's have a power steering cooler. The power steering fluid has a slow leak. I bet that's where it came from...not the engine. I'll address that first.

Yup. I feel stupid for not thinking of that on my own, but that is actually a far more likely cause (in my case). The engine runs GREAT...I find it hard to believe that it would be the culprit.
