Default Kissing the piston

I'm going to install a 02 Z06 cam in my LS1. My stock cam lift is .500 and the new one will be .550. I also want to install 1.8 rocker arms. My concern is if it will be to much. I don't think it will be because they offer those ratio rockers for the LS6 but I'd rather get some insight first.

Make sure you get the proper pushrod I think they are diffrent from stock 7.4. Cam people will tell you the proper sized ones.

My initial answer is not an issue since people are throwing the MS4 cam into the engine and it's lifting w/1.7s something like .648 or so. . .

Lift really doesn't have much to do with ptv clearance.

You can give a little better answer than that. Doesn't it have more to do with duration than lift?

PTV contact isn't closest at TDC as it is 15 BTDC and ATDC?

Yes, it has to do with duration, tappet lift, icl/ivo, ecl/evc, compression.. but not max lift.

At max lift the piston is a mile away from the valve and moving away in a hurry.

OP, seen this post was a lil older and idk if you youve made your choice.

with that cam the lift will be .575-.585 i beleive with a 1.8 rocker per say the ratio formulas..not exact though either but in that ball park

also like they said your duration etc plays a huge role..but i think youll be ok, GL!
