Default cam suggestions

I am putting in a 383. I want to know what cam I should go with. Along with the 383 the car will have these things.

ATI D1SC 8#
PP stage 2 heads with a compression ratio of 9.1 to 1
yella terra rockers
not sure on converter yet but something in the 4000 range
3:73 gears

Well for starters I'm going to say something that has a wide LSA so you don't blead off your intake charge and more exhaust duration (standard split) so you still clear the cylinders.

Whats your max RPM you want to run?

I would say 6300. I don't want to spin the motor to high.

personally I would get ahold of Thunder Racing, LG, and MTI and ask them (though I'm sure a number of others will be able to help you a little better than my "kick start" I gave you).

another question:

- I assume your pistons are aftermarket (judged by the compression). How big are the valve reliefs? This could impact how big you go and how you can play with the advance.

Well personally if it were "MY" engine, I would be shooting for something along the lines of a 236/244 (just an idea) to ensure that the cam is large enough to feed the motor (more exhaust than intake), yet is not so big that it becomes too high strung (keep the shift rpm down).

TSP231/237 would work fine. This cam is very versatile, and would work great with more displacement.

(2001) You don't think the 236/244 is to big since I am bringing 8PSI in?

(South) I got a buddy with that can but want to stay with a 114 LSA if possable.

TSP will grind it on a 114 at request. Not the first time they've done it.

i would try something like a 224/232 on a 116lsa... and u shouldn't need such a big converter with boost, a 3200 should do fine...

As for converters I have a SY3500 but am going to upgrade to a 4000 (not sure which one yet). As for LSA's I like the rumble a 114 puts out. Kinda want it to sound alittle rounchy.
