Junkyard Iron 6.0L LQ4/LQ9
L92 Heads
Cam
Carb
If you have some extra $$$ Stroke it out to a 408 (6.7L) and add boost as needed
600~800WHP all day for under $10k easy
EFI is getting really affordable as well.
