If pressure goes up with engine rpm's, you're ok. Hot idle for mine is in the 25-30psi range.

u'r genius level is just way over my head. lol

yeah, and the manual says to only use 5.5 quarts, yet people on here just put in 6 quarts with no problems..so i guess they are wrong for not following the manual huh? ive also ran castrol GTX 10W-30 on my old 00' fbody with no problems

so i guess people who use other brand oil filters like K & N are wrong because its not an AC delco filter which is what the manual asks huh! LMAO..

your raggin on people for not following the manual, and yet you have aftermarket parts on your car especially since the manual only asks for GM stuff..GTFO!!

Mobil 1 is a great oil for a group IV base. There 0w-40 is used in many race platforms throughout the world.

I use Redline 5w-30 and 10w-40. This is a true synthetic ( Polyol ester group V). Proven again and again every sunday at a track near you! I have been using it for 17 years. And yes, I am a regular at bobistheoilguy. I am not a tribologist, but know quite a bit about lubricants in general. This site is great for tech, but all of the oil posts I have seen are laughable.
I guess I'm a little confused. Please bear with my questions, I'm not trying to be a smartass.

People recommend using GC at 0-30 to get rid of tick. But wouldn't a thinner oil cause more tick? 0-30 is thinner than 5-30, isn't it?

So I'm in Texas with the scorching summer coming and I have the usual tick noises associated with the 2001 LS1. I'm running Mobile 1 5-30 and would think with warmer weather that an 0-30 would be worse to run, not better. Wouldn't a 10-40 hold up better viscosity-wise in warmer weather and reduce tick (hopefully)?

U can only use 5w-30 because the smart guy 01'SSLSX says the manual says so.

your post #5!!.. i said i use a different oil than 5w-30 and you wanna talk smack just cuz its not in the manual with a smart *** comment basically talking **** to people who arent running 5w-30.

doesnt hurt me one bit, like i said, i wasnt the one who sent a pm crying..

look how many people run different oils other than 5w-30 which GM does suggest, people are running 10w-30, 0w-30, 5w-40, and you dont see them with any problems at all, and most of them get better results than 5w-30.

maybe i should change out my battery for an AC Delco because its what the manual suggests..

i should also take my car to a chevy dealership and get maintenance done because its what the manual suggests..GTFO!! i mean since you did say we should do everything exactly like the manual says.
