Default Heads/Cam vs Blower?

Alright guys right now I have a P1sc with all supporting mods. Problem is is that these things don't make any boost until 3500rpm. I would like more torque down low, so would I be better off going with a different cam and some AFR 205's? I just don't see the reason to have this power adder if I really don't use it. I would love a big inch stroker, but not for the price they want.

I'll give your thread a bump. But your comments are exactly why I wnet with a heads and cam set-up instead of a blower, better response at lower RPMs. Buddy of mine went with the big stroker for down low and blower for up high. But this is not in your plan. Better heads and cam would be an option. I would go with a head that has bigger runners and let someone with experience pick the cam. However, I'm speaking hypothetically here. I'm sure someone who has been down this road can help you. Have you talked to your tuner about this?

What are the specs on the cam in your car right now? A good boost cam is something that is small so it provides a lot of low end power to get you up into boost quickly. I agree that it does take a little while to produce boost but with the right cam and heads the low end power should not be that bad.

I have a buddy who has the same set up. I have a H/C/N2O set up. I see good power down low and as soon as I hit the bottle man I just walk away from my buddy because I hit my tq1 numbers a lot quicker and harder. I like the SC set up he has but like you have been experiencing and your TQ curve will come in a lot later because of the FI cam and set up.

it is an old MTI cam the R1. I believe it is 232/236 on a 116 LSA. I was also thinking a small cam would be better and it probably wouldn't suck as much gas either.

Compression, proper valve job and valve events are crucial for good torque below 4000 rpm. My unported 243s with a 5 angle valve job helped me make 365 rwtq @ 3000 rpm and 399 rwtq @ 3800 rpm. You won't find too many people who have more under the curve power in a 346, even with $3000 heads.

You could also try a smaller blower pully. This will spin the blower faster all through the rpm range. Also what is your compression ratio ?

Compression ratio is stock. I am already running a 3.4 blower pulley. I think anything smaller will produce a lot of belt slip.

I'm a big fan of NA power, but you already own the blower and have a cam. Gears would get you into your power band faster, or you might try a smaller cam that makes more power down low. The blower is only one part of the equation and I don't think you'll go faster by taking it off.
