Im just posting this thread for a coworker but I see where you guys are coming from... I apologize to TSP for this thread, I shoulda said aftermarket regrind instead of tsp. He went ahead and bought a NEW cam and ls7 lifters... No idea on his plans but good luck to him.

Pushrod length was not checked, we just bought what was a good recomended ballpark for us by the person we talked to.
A another important factor is that it was actually a COPIED cam, we took a real Texas speed cam and a stock cam to a machinist, and the stock cam got a regrind, which is the cam that got destroyed and CANT be used any more. Does it matter that it was a regrind???
Also, it's a coworkers car at the Nissan dealership I work at, and 3 coworkers have LS1 cars with TONS of experience. I still don't understand how this happened, even if pushrod length was wrong, how could that destroy the cam?? Don't make sense....

You can't be serious.
How did the machinist add material to the stock cam? Most TSP cams (probably ALL) are bigger than stock, requiring more material for lift and duration.

i totally agree! how can you "REGRIND" a cam and get more duration/lift out of it. sounds like who ever did the work to the parts is a complete idiot. and why would spend the money on a regrind when you can buy the exact cam kit for like 700 bucks? doesnt make sense. i thought id heard some stupid things but this is about at the top.

Actually you only keep grinding the base circle lower and lower as the lobe can only be so tall and be able to be put in the engine. Still a very dumb thread though!

You copied a TSP cam? Please tell me you realize there's more to a cam profile than just the lift and duration numbers on the cam card and didn't just think that you could copy a cam from it. Please.

How do you even regrind a stock cam anyway and hope to have it match a certain cam? I don't think the thread needs to be beat to death anymore but I'm wondering how it's physically possible to take a stock cam send it to a machine shop and come out with say a MS3. Let alone do it without having the actual cam there side by side to compare it to.

For all its worth I think this thread is Bullshit. No one I know would go to GM to do a cam install much less Nissan. I mean really no one is that stupid. Really i think this is a bunch of BS to see how many people respond and I along with many bit but oh well am done with this thread.
