"How do you know he didn't go through the case hardening on the cam during the regrind? "

As noted in a couple of posts. That may have well have been the beginning of the end. Then there are a couple of other possible pitfalls along the way that have already been duly noted. Sounds like this project was doomed from the start.

Regarding mechanics. It is always best to have someone already familiar with the ins and outs of your car work on it. I have seen this time and again with the 3rd gen Camaros and Firebirds in our club.

this should be titled "I am a clown". I would delete the thread. A waste of everyone's time.

I like the way your machinist left the caked-on oil sludge between the lobes, did you pay him extra for that?

Two words regarding roller cam lobes you will want to familiarize yourself with: SURFACE HARDENING.

So, I still dont understand why they went to the trouble for a re-grind when they could have just paid for the TSP cam and never had a problem. Except the fact its AT A NISSAN DEALERSHIP WITH *** CERTIFIED TECHNICIANS.

Proof it's always a good idea to replace the lifters and lifter trays when doing a cam swap on a high mileage motor.

That has nothing to do with it.

Bullshit, I had a friend that had the same thing happened when he did the same type of swap. Worn lifters and lifter trays can cause a lifter to spin. Did the same type of damage to his cam that this one did.

Damn, didn't see that the pushrod length wasn't checked. Yeah, that's pretty important if you want to destroy your lifters.
