Yeah it's the way TEA drops the intake valve down which reduces PTV clearance. Since I have to cut the pistons I am going to have the heads milled and run as much compression as I can. I am going to be using the MLS gasket.

Back to your normal programing.

I run 59 cc chambers with a .040 head gaskets for a nice tight quench with a custom grind cam from Comp...been running this setup for over 80,000 miles and driving the car all over the country on many hot rod power tours and it is a daily driver too...makes 452/418...high compression is free HP/TQ..go with the 59 cc chambers ..

I know what quench is. I meant there was little room for error if something happened and the piston smacked the head.

Sounds like a good combo.

Im still thinking i will probably go with the 64cc chambers as i will only lose a little HP compared to the 59cc. I was thinking of milling them to say 62cc chambers though.

Or i could just do the 64cc chambers with a thinner gasket.

You can go with the thinner gasket but in the grand skim of things the bump you are going to get from a thinner gasket is not going to make that much of a difference with a 64CC chamber. Remember with LSx heads its .007 of head milling along with chamber work for every CC of chamber volume. Also raising the compression is not as straight forward as buying a .040 gasket instead of a .054.

Here u go
64.43cc = 10.50 CR This is the stock LS6 compression.
63.87cc = 10.57 CR
63.31cc = 10.64 CR
62.75cc = 10.71 CR
62.19cc = 10.79 CR
61.63cc = 10.87 CR
61.07cc = 10.94 CR
60.51cc = 11.02 CR
59.95cc = 11.10 CR
59.39cc = 11.18 CR
58.83cc = 11.27 CR
58.27cc = 11.35 CR

It all depends on the DURATION of the cam that you are running ... beleive me I have plenty of piston to valve clearance...
