Default why does my 00Z have 241 heads not 835

i was curious why my 2000 camaro have 241 heads and not the 853 as 98-2000 cars have them. does that mean i have the same heads on a 2001 to 2002 car?

My car is a 00 and has 241 maybe just when they started to switch over from 00 to 01. And just saying you probly gain some power with long tubes instead of shortys Just a saying.

Check the production date. It was probably made in late 98 and you got the last of the 853's before they switched.

No, 853s ran till 00. I have seen stock 01 models have them (early production I'm presuming)

241s ran for 01 and 02 when the cam changed.

With people seeing original cars with unexpected heads installed. Makes you think there may have been some supply problems for GM along the way, causing this to be a little screwy.

My '00 had 853's. Consider yourself lucky, the 241's are better.

Just to clarify, the 98's came with 806 heads which are perimeter bolt heads (how the valve cover bolts on). 853's are centerbolt heads. Also, the 98's use different coil brackets as well.

For you 00-01 guys, if you happen to pull your heads one day and discover you have (1) 853 and (1) 241 head, don't freak out! They're bacically the same head just different casting numbers.
