Default Intake on or off when installing motor from the bottom

When you guys install the motor in from the bottom do you put the intake on or wait till it's in the car?

The only reason I would see to wait is to hook up the ground straps and brackets on back of the heads or can you reach them?

Thanks.

I'm guessing if you can drop it with it on, you should be able to put it back in with it on. Here's a link on how to drop it. https://ls1tech.com/forums/general-m...ls1-fbody.html

On. It's easier to put the intake's rear bolts on when the engine is out of the car. If you put the intake on after the engine is in the engine bay, you can still put the intake on, but the rear bolts can be a little bit of a pain because of the cowl back there.

also, don't forget to put your map sensor in the back of your intake (if it's a stock LS1 intake manifold) before putting the engine in the car. i had forgotten to do this and when i installed my engine i had to remove the intake.

Thanks for the replies. I dropped the motor out the bottom. I took the intake off before I dropped the motor because this is the first LS motor I had done and I didn't know how many wires were behind the intake. I will put it on before I install the motor.

The ground wires in the back have to be a bitch to get to.

Those grounds are part of the harness, you pull/push the motor down/up with those grounds attached to the head.

That's a damn good idea. That never occurred to me. Thank you!
