Default road course head/cam/intake set-up C5

Hello guys, I currently have a cam only set-up in my 1999 c5. I was planning on going down the blower route, but after falling in love with the road course, I think I want to do an NA build. I currently run the "EPP blower cam" 232/240 .595/.608 115. It makes good power NA but mainly up top and sort of lacks in torque. 407/367 mustang dyno. I want to keep the stock shortblock and run a solid heads/cam/intake combo that will make great power for where I want it on the road course! I will also run on 93 octane, and would like it to mate up well with 3.90 rear gears + MN6 trans. I LOVE a healthy lope at idle and don't mind losing driveability, I want something nasty Any suggestions from the pro's on a killer NA 346 set-up? Thanks!

-Jon

Cam:
Upper 22X to lower 23X on a 112lsa should put you in a better power range.

Make sure you use cam lobes that are stable at high rpm along with a valvespring combo of the same mentality.

custom spec'd cams are worth their weight in gold...PatG des them here and several other vendors as well. double springs/titanium locks and all that for sure. heads...some nciely ported 243's is a sure fire bang for the buck or if you wanna spend a little bit more, AFR 205cc heads.

As far as intake, for the money a ls6 or ported ls6 is by far the way to go, but a F.A.S.T. is a nice piece. look into a Vararam for the actual intake, it would help you a lot.

Build up your drivetrain either way. It will be taking the beating on the road course.

vararam done, driveline done. Already have a cam with all supporting valvetrain mods, full exhaust, ls6 intake. Looking to swap out my cam, add heads to compliment them and raise the compression, and maybe change the intake if needed

My "Stage 3" cam with stock 241 heads and stock intake with supporting exhaust mods (long tubes, free flowing exhaust system) puts down 427/397 on a dynapack dyno. This cam would definately be optimized with a good set of heads and intake.

I mainly do road course driving with my car as well and this cam has proven iteslf time and time again. The cam is still driveable on the street, gets good mileage on the highway (I average 25-26 regularly) and makes excellent power everywhere. I try to get everyone I can into a 113 LSA with this cam as it helps it come alive in a livable powerband.

If you want an idle video, here is a walkaround of my car after the cam went in.

I have a set of track rotors and Hawk race DTC 70 front/ 60 rear pads Also stainless lines, duct cooling kit, DRM Stainless caliper pistons, Motul 600 fluid Set-up works pretty well, bites hard, and I didn't get them to fade in my last session out!

Sounds like. The Hawk DTC pads are no joke. They work well on the street and perform extremely well on the track.

Let me know if you ever need replacements. I get Hawk products directly and can get you some good deals.

not sure how I feel about such aggressive lift... I know that high lift is bad news for road cars with such sustained high RPMs....

I went with an Ed Curtis 227/231 585 lift to keep it reasonable for road racing. Great low end, ICL at 111.

step 1. ETP, AFR, TFS heads.. pick your poison, and not necessarily in that order. anything with a runner below 225 cc, at least that's as per my opinion.

step 2. get a cam from Ed C, Geoff at EPS, or Pat G(which sends his stuff to EPS anyhow).

step 3. go racing.
