Default Is this valvetrain noise?

I can't tell and the squeaking throws me off.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQNW94OUFTc
It's got good oil pressure.
I have a Vengeance racing vindicator cam (.605 .596 240/244), LS7's, 7.325" PR's, stock rocker arms, AFR 205's milled to 62ccs.

I never measured for lifter preload just went by what someone told me to get.

I can also push some of the lifters down by hand and the rest are solid. All parts have less than 5k miles.
Thanks

I have checked all of the above besides pushrod length.

And half of my lifters are easily compressed by hand. Is that normal?

This. Probably what you are hearing. Not to mention that cam isn't going to sound like butter on the valvetrain. I ran a 244/248 with a 7.350. I know what you are hearing.

I also have a t-rex cam 242/248 heads 59cc and only running 7.350 pushrods too. Get a pushrod length checker and measure.

Definitely sounds like a loose rocker arm to me. While your at it go ahead and check the pushrod length to see if the geometry is correct because that is never a bad idea. Comp makes a nice length checker IIRC it is part# 7702-1 in Summit.

Thanks for the help. And I double checked all the rocker arms and they were good.

Thanks
Thats never a good idea. You have to measure for it. I just went through this a few days ago after installing some TFS215s. They came with 7.5 pushrods but I had them milled .010 & new LS7 lifters. After following YTs instructions installing their rockers I tightened the rocker bolts with a socket finget tight with slight tension on the pushrod, then counted how many turns it took to get to 25 ft lbs(or 22 ft lbs for stock rockers) & it only took 1/4 turn, which is about .012 preload. Do this on the cylinder thats on TDC compression stroke. Should take about 1 to 1 1/2 full turns from finger tight to torque for decent lifter preload. Thats not enough preload & I knew if I put it together with the 7.5s it was gonna be noisy. I pretty much knew from doing that I was gonna need 7.550s & using the adjustable pushrod tool. With the 7.550 rods it took 1 full turn to torque & its not noisy.

hey I have the same noise and everything checks out fine. I bought a cam package from TR and they told me to get 7.425 push rods. Is this the right push rod length for a raptor cam, and new ls7 lifters. I always that since the new ls7 lifter are taller then stalk ls1 lifters that the push rods should be shorter. I too need help, dont want to start a whole new thread since we are on topic with this one. I hate the noise, so if I can make it any quieter I will. Thanks.

Again I do have double valve springs, I've read that this and the fast ramp rate of the cam will give me a NOT so quiet valve train. I want to get my car tuned already, don't want to take it apart again.

Thats what a lot of people do on here, me being one of them when I installed my cam last spring. I did what most suggested, get 7.400 pushrods. Thats with the stock lifters & PRC dual springs. I did hear a lil ticking noise on occasion but it ran good. I am sure I couldve used a lil longer pushrod but I never measured for it. So I probably didnt have quite enough preload on the lifters. Thats one of the reasons when I installed the heads that I measured for it & got the right length pushrods. I didnt want to have any valvetrain noise & I dont now.

Not true from what I have been hearing. LS7s like more preload. Read my previous post above & or do a search.

7.425 is the right pushrod for the RapTR cam.

Well after 25 miles into break in surprisingly my car started up on the first try this morning, and to my amaze my valvetrai. Got quieter but I can still hear it just not as bad. Maybe it just needs more break in time.

I wonder how much preload my lifters were getting with the LS7's and a 7.325" PR?? Could a lack of preload cause a lifter to fail? Or could the lack in preload cause such a racket?
