I ran a XER281HR for a good long while with comp 921s and it did just fine. I can't wait to see the result of your build, I am doing the same build but with a XER281HR and ported, valved, shaved 241 heads this time.

I believe it's the ramp rate that matters most, not the max lift, those are still aggressive lobes. But like I said, I ran it in my daily driver LQ4 swap for about 3 years with no ill effects.

Hey man my build is very similar to yours, block is done and parts are in the mail. Ive decided to go the 4l80e route with forged piston/rods for my nitrous set up and a slightly bigger cam otherwise very similar.. I'm trying to make a decision on the torque converter. How do you like yours? Do you do any towing? I pull a 6x14" tandem axle trailer once or twice a week with my contractor tools. That's the biggest concern when talking torque converter. How's the Yank? What did you pay for it? Last, was the build a hell of an improvement over the 5.3? My truck currently has the wee 4.8, so I can't wait. I have a 2wd reg cab long box a few inches lower than stock. It should be a fun little work truck.

Does anyone have any advice for me. I'm wanting to build my 01 lq4, it has a rear main leak and is starting to burn oil unnecessarily. I picked up some 821 heads off of a 2009 g8 ft. I'm picking up a ls3 intake tmrw as well, I don't know if I should have my heads ported or what kind of cam to go with, I'm looking to end up with around 600hp if possible, I would also like to switch to flat top pistons but not sure if there's a Ptv clearance issue there

Thx for the advice lsrbest, my wishful 600hp was was dream anyway, mostly from like you said, lots of discussions in this forum, I would be happy with 450 to 500. I will give them a shout and see what there advice is, I want to stick with N/A. Im ready to spend some money on this. Hopefully my hopes aren't set too high

The right cam, heads, and intake will do 450-500HP easily. As said, get hold of TS&P, Brian Tooley Racing, etc. for good advice on how to do it. Have fun!

Op if you are still looking for any parts, complete gasket kit, pistons, etc we have the best price on all of it, better than summit and not cheap chinese stuff either.
We have had quite a few 6.0 builds we helped with this year alone. Good strong blocks lots of potential. We have stock parts and all the aftermarket you can imagine, plus a guy at the shop has 2 6.0 trucks he always toys with, so he has the hands on exp to get you what you need.
The P series were made to work with stock crank and rods. The rod bolts you have are ok also. If you do the arp youll also need to have the big end bores honed to true them up.
Good budget build. Look forward to see the rest.
