Default G5X3 fit with stock heads, other big cams only stock heads

The G5x3 114 will fit with stock heads, right? I was going to go with heads and cam, but if I can put a big cam and get nearly as much power Id rather do that its not my everydaily driver so it should be ok. What other big cam only setups are working well and will fit wih stock heads. It is for my 2000 Z28.

I think it will, what other mods do you have? M6 or A4? With an A4 I would be worried about driveability. If you want a cam that works well with stock heads and can stand less-than-stock drivibility, the G5X2, G5X3 (especially on a 114, that would help alot, both in P to V clearance as well as idle/drivability), the MMT M2 (although I am not 100% sure of its specs), TSP 231/237 (a little smaller than the G5X_ cams, but still a great performer). Good luck, Shawn

What are the specs on that cam, is it big, and who sells them?

Modern Musclecar Technologies (MMT) sells the cam

Big is being nice to it! Lopes like a Harley.

The specs are near 228/234 607/598 110+2

Call Sean at (469) 721-3080 and he can tell you all about it.

We just finished the latest G5X-3 Cam and head package tonight. I will post up a graph later. The numbers through a stock Z06 muffler. We will dump the muffler tomorrow and see what we gain.

As of tonight, the numbers are 488.9rwhp and 441.7 rwtq.

J-rod just got 480wrhp dynoing at MTI yesterday also with this G5X-3 package.

This cam on a 114 will fit nicely in a stock headed engine.

GIve us a call and I can help you out with your decision about Cams.

Thanks

Yep! Go G5X-3 on a 114 LSA and you will have no problems. Piston/Valve clearance will be just fine unless you go with the 112, then it will require flycutting the pistons. My suggestion is stay with the 114 which is an excellent nitrous cam for down the road

I run the G5X-3/114 with my stock LS6 heads.

Have you installed any G5X3 114lsa setups on stock headed LS1 car yet (non-LS6 headed)? If so, how'd it do? Curious, Shawn

We just did a 2003 coupe. LG Pro Headers, 4.10 gears, and G5X-3/114 - 400RWHP.

Wow! 480rwhp!

So where is the power made? How high do you have to spin the motor to make this? And is this a streetable combo? Any info would be great Lou.

probably close to 7,000 rpms. Lou's cams pull to no end. Streetable is a loose term, depends on what you "streetable" If you mean daily driveable, you could say yea but don't get surprised with surging, dying when coming to a stop. etc, not too mention these cams will be very hard on valve springs bla bla I know all this can be overcome with tuning but most people don't have the time or resources to tune on a dynojet many times using edit.

just my 2 cents

In no way am I bashing Lou's products I am amazed how much power his stuff makes, I remember when everyone was doubting him before his cam came out..

As Michael4034 said....what heads were used? company that ported them? Stage? etc.

As you can see, I'm pretty damn interested in these numbers. Much cheaper than going big cube.

Keep in mind that a 470rwhp H/C car will almost always get beat by a 470rwhp stroker or allbore. Peak HP #s do not tell the whole story, although they are a great selling tool.
