Default Main bearing cap side bolts

Got my rotating assembly back today and am starting to check bearing clearances and reassemble the block.

My question is based on what the book says.

Chilton says to use new main bearing cap side bolts, due to o rings will be damaged on the old ones. The problem I am running into is that the old ones don't have o rings.

So on third gen aluminum blocks do I need to replace these side bolts?

I replaced mine, they come with with some type of sealer applied from the factory. But you could always just apply silicone as mentioned above. I used Chilton's, like you and I replaced mine, as recommended because I thought they were TTY.

I re-used mine w/ sealant, as well. They are fine.
