I have AFR 225 heads with 8019 spring upgrade, Yella Terra 6645 1.7 Ultra Light shaft-mounted rockers and Comp R lifters.

Hmmmmm, I wonder if the oil breather I put on that side could have something to do with this?

Could have a valve sticking in a guide when it gets hot. That will make the exact sound you have.

If it is a sticking valve, how can I fix that without spending too much?

My turbos were passing oil into the intake and it's getting burned up and really dirtying things up. It has pretty much fouled my plugs. Would that kind of oil grime cause the valves to stick when hot? I'm gonna try and Seafoam the top end when I get the turbos straightened out and see if that fixes it.

Can a sticking valve cause the oil pressure to drop?

Worn valve guides can cause ticking noises too.

But what I'm wondering is if any of that can cause the oil pressure to drop. When the car gets warmed up and the ticking starts is when the oil pressure goes low at idle. I put in some thicker 15W50 Mobile 1, which helped, but didn't fix it completely. I was passage a good bit oil into the intake when the turbos were first put on so I'm thinking there is just a lot of burnt oil buildup in there. I'm wondering if a dirty valve sticking could also affect oil pressure. If so, I'll Seafoam the intake and hopefully that will fix all the problems at once.

That almost sounds like a bottom end noise. My good friends SS made that noise and it was worn bearings. Not to say this is your case but its a similar noise.

If my motor only has about 6k on it right now at most, how could the bearings be already worn out? Is that even possible?

From listening to your sound recording i'd say its either a electrical noise from spark jumping to ground or something in the valves-lifters. As noisy as that is it should be easy to find if its a lifter. Pull the valve cover and check each rocker @tdc check to see if one is loose.

Like stated earlier though, if it was a loose rocker or bent pushrod, the sound would be more consistent. I never though abut the spark jumping and making that noise. These plugs are about fouled so that could have something to do with it too.

Its possible, but with only 6k it shouldn't have happened. How much oil pressure does it have on cold startup?

On cold start, the OP sits right around 20 psi. Even after it sits and idles for a while, it doesn't drop too much below that. It's when you take t out and drive it for a while or get on it a few times that the OP begins to progressively drop and the tapping on the passenger side of the motor begins. For the first few thousand miles I had the car (after initial break-in period) I was spraying the motor with a 150 shot and reving it up high with zero problems. It wasn't until I put this turbo on that the issues really started piling up.

Wait, I was wrong, I just went out and cranked it up and it was over 40 psi on cold start. That 20 psi was probably after it ran for a good bit and a turn it off for a few minutes and started it back up. I'm going to Seafoam it tonight and see what that does.

I went and Seafoamed it (properly) and added half a quart of oil and it didn't really fix much of anything. Still drops OP and starts that damn tapping when it gets hot.

With that kind of oil pressure I'm starting to think its in your bottom end. Removing that engine and tearing it down would be the best thing to do before it does any further damage.

Yep 40 psi cold & 20 psi hot are both very low especially for a fairly fresh build.

I think it's about time to sell this ******* money pit if that's the case. I don't even know what I could get for it though but it's got over $30k invested in parts alone and I'm just at a dead end with it financially.
