valve to piston clearance Just curious on how to measure valve to piston clearance. i know you cant cut the engine in two or just hold a valve at what you think might be the right height.

Get (or make) 2 solid lifters, put some clay on the piston, tighten the head down without a gasket, make 2 revolutions, remove head, measure the thinnest part of the clay, add compressed head gasket thickness, review the results.

I would use your old gasket to do this as no gasket and a tight clearance can lead to the valve hitting the piston.

Verdad Gallardo I got a set of testing springs and was able to use my hydraulic lifters. i got the clay thickness with out head gasket. I need to know what the over all clearance needs to be. i will research but any help will be nice. Thanks
