And it won't be quite as smelly. Driveability is there especially with a M6 and it will have that choppy classic muscle car idle. And it's off the shelf proven cam..

I encourage anyone to check out Cam Motion's LS1 cams on their website. I recently purchased one and I know its going to do very well. They offer most or all of their grinds with different lift configurations to fit your needs. Upon first inspection, the cam looks like a high quality piece. I will be posting my impressions, dyno results, and track times, weather permitting.

Excellent replies.

I would like to stir the soup a little bit.

I am in a process of closing a deal from a set of ported 243 heads.

This will not change the orinal goal, which was good low and mid range torque. Though it might change the cam requirements.

At this point I am still leaning towards to 220/220 lsa 114 or 224/224 lsa 114 type of cam. Still trying to avoid "smelliness" by wider lsa.

Opinions?

if you want low-midrange killer torque i say get a reverse split cam on 114-116LSA

My junk makes more torque down low than almost anything and I'm running unported 243's. 365 rwtq @ 3000 rpm and 399 rwtq @ 3800 rpm, thats good power under the curve, pulls clean to 6800 rpm too if you feel like revving. It's all in my signature link.

I find it funny that you never give out your cam specs...as if BRE would come after you or something

King, you should look into predator Z 230/228 on a 110 or 109 i think. a guy named RMTT is making some sick *** numbers with that cam and some LS6 heads.

Im also happy with my 230/227. I wanna see what this cam will do with some heads and a ported fast.

-no smelly exhaust (114 LSA or higher)
-great low and mid range
-want it to peak at 5900-6000rpm
-stay under .570 lift
-need an off the shelf grind

The thunder racing TR220-114 or a texas speed 220R-114 cam should be the best to consider. With ported 243s you should break 400rwhp still.

It's no different than buying a cam from anyone else. LG doesn't give specs nor does Virginia Speed. I didn't even know what the specs were until the cam arrived. That doesn't matter as I'm not an airflow / cam expert who does this for a living. If you pay someone for their work and agree to not share the information, out of respect why would I give the info out. I told him exactly what my goals were and they were far exceeded. Some of you on here are silly and have no clue about valve events. Cams are built off of valve events not LSA, LSA is a by product of the valve events.

reason i'm goin with a 116 is to keep attention at a minimum and to not blow soot out the back

There is a lot more to a cam than just LSA. If you are soley focused on LSA I'd have someone who knows what they are doing spec you a cam. Blowing soot out the back is tune related and your mufflers will determine the amout of attention your car receives. My friends LS1 GTO I tuned has a 242-248 110 LSA (Trex) and it does not blow soot or attract a ton of attention. Honestly with his exhaust you'd have no idea what cam he's running.

You pick a cam based off of the rpm range of your power and driveability. A high LSA (116) is going to create a late IVC event (intake valve closing) which will lack low end torque with a lower dynamic compression ratio. It will also create peak power at a higher rpm. The key for low end torque is an early IVC that matches your dynamic compression ratio, with that being said I'm running 8.8 DCR with 11:1 static compression, very responisve throttle at any rpm and runs great on pump gas. It's all about maximizing your efficiency.

^agreed. When I had my hooker aerochamber and tr224 114lsa my car was pretty quiet but with the borlamouth my car is loud and I always have to make sure I'm not in the gas passing cops. You should get at least a 113-114LSA with that cam so you don't have to rev to 7000rpm.

Just bought the heads. Ported 243 heads (LS2) with solid valves, stock springs (yellow LS6), GM MLS gaskets and ARP head bolts. All that less that 500 USD, I think that is a pretty good deal.

Flow numbers for the the heads are as follows on a 4.160 bore. SF 600 Superflow bench.

.100 65 56

.200 148 112

.300 203 154

.400 251 187

.500 269 211

.600 280 223

.700 290 227

Before I put the car in hibernation I will get some dyno numbers to have a baseline. This will take place with in 2 weeks.

This would work great with the new heads, right?
Smell factor could be compromised a bit though?
