Default Head gaskets

Need help finding a set of head gaskets & sizing them correctly.

4.005" bore 6.0 block
243 heads, will be milled ~ .014 (about 62cc)
16cc dished pistons
229/236 113 cam

I've already ordered GM MLS 6.0 gaskets that's a .051 thickness, however I'd like to find a thinner gasket. Perhaps a .040 or .041 gasket. Fel Pro, Cometics, SCE Titans, heard of sealing problems with aftermarket gaskets though so feels a little sketchy on ordering some.

Anyways, my main question is what size head gaskets should I be looking for? And no reason to worry about PTV with this setup?

I would run what you already have ordered. At least you know you will not have a sealing issue.

No gasket has a better reputation for sealing than the GM MLS gaskets. That's why I used them in my build.

would you all recommend taking a little more off the heads then to make up the difference in SCR of the .040 gasket? I don't want to get to thin on the heads though especially if I end up running 13-14 lbs of boost one of these days. that little .051 to .040 makes quite a difference lol

You could always go Cometic with a .040" or .045" gasket if you wanted. A LOT of guys run them without an issue. By chance, do you know how far your piston is coming out of the hole? Something to consider before you go with a thinner gasket. Either way you go I'm sure will work fine as far as sealing goes. You just don't want the piston coming way out of the hole and having your quench too tight...

good point Jon. I'll call up to the shop and see if they can measure it. That will definitely help me make a decision. Would you happen to know what bore size of cometics I should get with the 4.005 bore & 243 heads? Maybe like around a 4.04 or is that too much?
