Yes the motor has been replaced with a low mileage stock ZO6 short block.

As per stroker engines, we have been working on some new combinations. We know 550 RWHP is very obtainable. John's A4 427 makes 527RWHP and I think 512RWTQ.

Its all about the intake right now, isnt it? With the right solution, I dont think 550 is far away.

Very Impressive Fellas.

500rwhp from a head and cam car takes some tweaking

Now that's what I'm looking for. Is that the TPIS intake with the oval throttle body?

I hate to say this, but both LS1/LS6 reference books I have say that adding much more than 450 HP more or less demands replacing the OEM rod bolts with an aftermarket fastener like ARP. The cracked cap, powdered metal con rods are quite strong, but everything I've read about the OEM rod bolts says they are suspect when used in high performance/high RPM applications.

BTW, what did that set-up cost?

good your using the search button, but look at the dates before you reply

and yes i believe its the TPIS modified oval entry and TB. also, the 02 ls6 shortblock already had the upgraded OEM rod bolts. they've been proven pretty consistant at ~6800 rpms.

yeah well as long as its up here

This is the most I've ever seen made out of 346CI..in fact after calling sponsers today I was beginning to think much more than 450RWHP was all but impossible...can anyone shed some light as to how Cartek seems so much above everyone else?

LGM did 503rwhp at the same time or before carteck, dont remember off hand. LGM had 20ft-lbs more tq. since then Rapid, TR, TTP have all done 500rwhp+ 346's.

however the most hp out of a 346 i've seen was done by LGM

Holy crap, I can't believe this thread is back from the dead. LOL

That 501 hp H/C was in Brent's Z06 and was dynoed with a full exhaust with mufflers and pump gas, 93 octane. Brent ran a best of 10.52 @ 130+ since this thread was first started, with full exhaust, pump gas and in a regular C5 chassis (3250# race weight) and drive train, not in a race car.

I believe that Brent's Z06 is the highest MPH and lowest ET of any H/C LSX in a stock suspension and drivetrain C5.

and for the record we made 505 hp with our setup on pump gas threw mufflers threw a t56 with a 9 inch and 410 gears and have so far run 10.60 in a 3000+ da with a 3200lb race weight and have now swaped over to a th350 so look for 9's in the cooler weather and when we get the suspension fixed up

ya, i know alot of **** has changed since this original post.

i miss the old school Cartek vs LGM drama, was some entertaining ****. i remember it seemed like every week the bar would get raised in the race to 500rwhp and who's shop car was faster.

off topic, but whats the status of cartek now, seems you guys have moved inito the shadows?

LOL, yeah, I remember those wonderful days. Since then LG and I have talked and worked things out. We have been busy with allot of Turbo LS1 development, I don't know if you know that Paul with his twin turbo Z06 has run 8.70s @ 155-158 mph with one of our 346 built engines, that makes him the fastest and quickest C5 out there. he now has about 70 runs in the low 9s, high 8s with no issues. We are also doing some big turbo projects with LS1s that should be completed in the near future.

We are also doing more R&D with our H/C setups since there is now much more reliable valve train components, we are updating our 3X heads and they will be using a much bigger cam than what Brent was running a year and a half ago when he was running 10.5s @ 130. By todays standard, our 3X cam was small. LOL

That's true, but we were just talking about doing a turbo setup in Dave's Camaro, we need to get our shop car out there. Also, Big Mike should be ready soon.

Nah, I dont miss the drama at all. It was fun though. Cartek went one direction with their goals, and we went another

I must say Im impressed with their turbo development as of late.

Was LGM's 530rwhp with a hydraulic cam? I was under the impression Futral had done upwards 570rwhp with a solid roller cam in a 346? Just curious.

Peace,
Josh

570? Wow, last I heard it was like 540 or so (not that that is low or anything LOL)...but from what I understand that was/is a fully built solid roller, high compression race motor. I know that Brent's 500+ rwhp set up was with a stock bottom end hydraulic cammed 346 running on pump gas.
