5w30 vs 10w30 isn't going to make any difference after just a minute or two of run time! They will, essentially, be the same oil at that point! Get those bearing clearance specs!

The most common culprit will be loose bearing clearance, unfortunately.

i used a little thicker oil and doubled up my oil pan gasket just incase the pickup was to close to the bottom of my oil pan and now im up to around 25 at 1500 instead of 10. going to use another gasket bc i read i need atleast 3/8 inch away from the bottom of the oil pan

my bearing clearences are spot on my builder said. hes bean building motors for 30 years so i know that part is good. does not sound like a spun bearing. removed my pick up and saw all silicone and **** that fell from the oil pan gasket. my guess is that my oil gallies are clogged and my o ring was pinched. gonna get it all back tomorrow hopefully it increases

My 408 has Melling 10296 high volume and run 10w-30 and get about 70 psi cold, and 45-50 psi hot. Couldn't tell ya how high it goes WOT because I'm still on break in, but 75% throttle at 4500rpm its all over 70 psi. Something is defintiely up with your set up. I'll also mention that I am only using 1 oil pan gasket. Spaced my windage tray with spacers that I believe ARP makes.

there is suppose to be a plug that is in the block that is beneath the timing cover that goes rite next to the oil pump on the drivers side. my engine builder did not put any plugs in and i saw an article that if you forgot that plug you will have no oil pressure so im pretty sure that is my problem

ya gotta love it new engines old builders like I said check them oil plugs ..so you had your car running with the plug in the front missing so it was just dumping oil into the pan ..I hope everything else is ok
