Thanks man. I looked through it pretty good. Lucky my buddy mike is guiding me through it and is generous enough to help me and let me do it all in his garage!

DAY 2
Took about 1.5 hours again
First the coil packs and unplugging all the injectors

Disconnect the fuel lines and pull them back

Taking off the back intake manifold bolts. There was 10, 8 MM bolts

The sensors that need to be disconnected from behind the manifold. The two and the right side of the picture are connected to each each other, so there are two.

Manifold gone

Going into the Trash....

Into the head...

Tools necessary to get the heads off

Remove power steering pulley

And the mounting bracket

A trick that worked for me on the oil pump pick up tube bolt. I used a pair of needle nose pliers and gripped the actual threads of the bolt, lined the bolt up in the hole, and then reached in with my other hand to get it started. Seemed like it made it easier for me. May not need to do that...just an idea!

Yeah, once you get that timing cover off, stuff a rag down in the oil pan. That little oil pump screw is a pita and will get away from you, the rag will save you from fishing it out of the pan if you happen to drop it. Been there, done that, not going back.

Good luck man. Your car should roll out nice with that cam and those heads.

The oil pump pick up tube is a nightmare. I did mine with the motor on an engine stand and ended up dropping the pan. I couldn't imagine doing it in the car. Be careful not to pinch the o ring.

Nice progress man. One thing I did when I unbolted the oil pick up tube bolt was I tied some fishing line to the bolt to keep from dropping it in the pan, did the same thing for re-assembly. Good thing I did too since I dropped the bolt a couple of times trying to get it started

I was a little confused about the first line of the first post OP. Why would anyone talk **** about your combo? It is a somewhat budget combo running stock 243s, but overall I think its a great budget combo with a proven street cam. I can tell your intentions immediately by seeing your H/C choice. Some people you don't know where they are going with their thrown together parts list. I think you will enjoy this combo

What did you do about the A/C charge?? Did you take it to be evacuated first?

That is the easiest way.

Thats the idea most people have when I open the hood but its a lot easier than it looks, especially if you ditch the AIR stuff.

you most deffinatley will. Its a real crappy spot for that bolt and makes a lot of extra work. I loosened up all my oil pan bolts about 1/2" and removed the rear ones in the bell housing. Dont panic right away if you drop it. I dropped mine coming out and it stopped on the upper shelf of the pan, i was able to fish it out with a pen magnet.

Thanks! I'll try that as well as the rag trick.

A lot of people think this is a crappy cam and I don't really care to hear it. Yeah I put a lot of thought and time into my cam and head choice, as well as a very budget minded combo. Thanks I can't wait to get it finished!

I'm working on it..I'm hopping to see between 390rwhp about. Mainly because the air here is so shitty and my heavy clutch. We'll see though. These heads aren't ported at all.

If by evacuated you mean opening up the lines in my garage and letting it air out, then yes I did evacuate it...lol

Should be doing some work tonight. Hopefully getting the heads off. I had a set back pulling the header/y pipe back off.

You really should edit you above post because certain government agencies frown on that particular method of evacuating.
