Thumbs up Which Head and cam package to buy??

Hello,
I want to buy a head and cam package for my 2001 WS.6 Vert!
I also need advice on a full exhaust package,
I have the SLP muffler now, should I upgrade it?

Vengeance racing is having a sale right now on their heads/cam packages, check in the Sponsors Sale section, and buy some longtubes and I'm sure your stock exhaust is fine

It really depends what kind of budget you have, and what kind of package you are looking for. We would also need more info about your car. Is it auto or manual? What else is done to it? If you can answer some of those questions it would be much easier to help you find a package.

It is an 2001 M6 / WS.6 / Convertible (the heavy WS.6, I know)

only thing I did to it is: add a clear MTI lid,
lou short stick and pro 5.0 shifter and also the coolant bypass
I need longtubes, Heads and cam / + tuned.
my budget is around one dollar to $3 grand for now!
but I want 500HP son!

We could do our 2.5 LS6 heads/ Cam package, Pacesetter ceramic coated LTs with an Off-Road Y-pipe, a GM heads/cam gasket and bolt kit, and a mail tune for $2920 before shipping.

As far as cam choice goes, it really depends what you will be using the car for and what you are looking for. Are you looking for a big cam, or something with more mid range and low end power? Is the car your daily driver?

This is a weekend car mostly,
I have a Land Rover (Disco) as my daily driver,
I was looking for a big cam!, sort of like a T-ReX V2! (great loping sound)
I am looking to go for twin turbo for this winter project!
I am still doing some research to make sure I get the most power for the buck!

If you are going to go twin turbo this winter then you should spec the heads and cam towards that. Are you going to stick with the stock motor or build one for those turbos?

I ask this because most big cams with the aggressive idle do not work with turbo kits at all, the actually work against them. For a turbo cam you are looking for a small cam that will get you into boost quickly, and something that doesn't have much overlap to it. Overlap causes the motor to bleed off boost which will rob you of power.

To protect your thread from getting moved I'm going to change the title to "Which heads and cam package to buy". Your title looks like a classifieds ad and it will be moved as such.

Well i guess i need more research but,
I am definately going twin turbo,
(mainly because i had a Dodge stealth RT-TT turbo and wrecked it)
and paid off all my debts, so I have spare money finally!
I just bought the Hooker long tubes 1 7/8 x3" and a Hooker OFY 3"
from Maryland speed,
And so for right now, I just need a heads and cam package deal
to get me over 400rwhp!

There are soo many cam /head choices here for a new enthusiast so i need your advice on a cam non-turbo! for now, because I may scrap the turbo winter project for a moser rear end w/4.10 gears, and baer brakes project $$$

Yeah you'll need to ditch the long tubes to put in a turbo manifold. You need to slow down, research, and plan what you're doing before you waste money.

And putting a twin turbo on your Camaro just because your last car was twin turbo isn't very good reasoning. Only put turbos on your camaro if you want that much power. Heads/cam makes plenty power for most people and will still be a hell of a lot faster than a dodge stealth.

And Baer brakes are a waste of money. The stock brakes work great.

Have you even priced a TT setup let alone a single???? Do you have any fab skills because tt's are not a bolton.... If you have to pay somebody even a single will cost you out the a$$..... You need to do a lot of research and really think your build through.....

search tony mamo and you will find is 500 whp thread for a ls1. there have been a lot of guys to do it but it is not cookie cutter. good luck. if it were my proect i would go with afr or tfs heads, fast intake, 230s cam, 1 7/8 american racing headers and ory, e cutout, e water pump, underdrive pulley, 410 gears, speed density tune for a solid chance at the mystical 500rwhp mark.
