I did the same swap just over 2 years Ago when my ls1 started to drink oil, and lose compression.
Got a crate ls6 ctsv motor for $4500 and had a local shop change it.
Put 340 to the wheels at 1000 miles with just a lid, and stock exhaust. Got a dyne tune after putting on some cat less long tubes through the stock cat back and put 369 to the wheels.
I really like it, feels just like the ls1 till about 3500rpm then it really wakes up on the upper mid range and top end. And I have driven it to work for years.
If I had to do it today, I would have a hard time not doing a lq4/9 swap. Seems like you can pickup lqs from yards for like 1500. I know of like 3-4 cars who have done this swap in the last 6 months.

, got the LS6 from Scoggin-Dickey for $3245 incl. shipping PM me if you have any questions.
It will be a 2004 CTS-V shortblock.
you will need your oil pan, oil pickup, windage, flexplate or flywheel and harmonic bal.
this block has upgraded rod bolts.
I only changed my pushrods and rockers and put on a SFI cert. flexplate
Runs good but needs a tune once I break it in, a local shop traded me my old block and heads for 2 hours dyno time and tune.
I looked at doing the forged and stroked but saw alot of issues and more cost.

Just wanted to let the OP know that Scogin has some LS6 longblocks coming in and they are $3485.00 shipped. I have been talking to Marty on here. Good guy. I still can't decide which way I am going.

LS1 oil pan and Windage tray
LS1 pick up tube
LS1 harmonic balancer (not sure what bolt to go with LS1/LS6? Any help)
Anything else??

Check my Sig. I'm was planning to drop ina mild cam before installing the engine as well, just need to choose one.
What about the coolant pipe for the LS6, I think I saw this part floating around on the web and is needed for the LS6. It's these little parts that I'm concerned about getting. I would like to order everything PRE engine swap so I'm not half way through the install and have to halt everything and wait for a part on order...

What exactly is this "coolant line and plugs" parts you are talking about? I guess I'm confused why I need the LS6 coolant lines when I already have the LS6 intake on my LS1.... is it because the new LS6 valley cover? Have you done this LS1 to LS6 swap before? If I add the coolant lines to my original misc. parts list am I done with the extra misc. parts that I need or is there anything else?
