what determines when you should flycut or not? the ptv? on a set of stock 243's, what cam is to big? would a 236/232 need flycutting or would i need the valve intake/exhaust be the determining factor? if so cam guru's could a cam be spec'd for me in the reverse split category that won't need flycutting. thank you

Why do you seem set on a reverse split right off the bat??? Why not just get somebody to spec you one????
To answer part of your ?? yes PTV determines whether to cut and yes that cam will clear uncut heads with GM MLS gaskets just fine prolly even on a tight LSAwith some advance....

originally years ago i was goin to put in a 230/224 but i got scared because of the LSA so i got the 227/224 instead and i only got 300 miles out of that and never went past 2500rpm before i hydrolocked the engine
the new owner of that cam was tellin me how hard it pulls and if that pulls hard i can't wait to see a larger reverse split cam. either 230/224, 230/227 or 236/232 Thread Starter

LSA will be 116 or 117 and the ICL??? are you talkin about lobes? if so they'll be the same as the TR230/224. this is why i asked from cam guru's or really anybody with cam experience so i can pick the best reverse split cam

Intake Center Line (ICL) Will you be installing the cam straight up? Is there going to be advance or retard ground into the cam? All of these will effect PTV. To give you an idea of what JPH is referring to is a Tr230/224 111 Lsa has an ICL of 111. Tr230/224 111+2 lsa would be a 109 ICL. A Tr230/224 111-2lsa would be 113 ICL. Why 116 or 117 Lsa? Why not call Geoff Skinner@ http://www.engpwrsys.com/ ? I think he actually designed the TR230/224. I'm sure he can help you.
i figure with a 116 or 117LSA and a lift under .600 on intake and exhaust my car shouldn't draw much attention with the stock catback. i think i'll give him a call or email on monday and discuss more about this with him, thank you!!!! Trending Topics

I thought the rev split cams were a thing of the past. I may be wrong, but i believe the fastes guys here run tradi-split cams. Being different,is just being different and maybe not the best gain. Good luck to you my different friend.
Check out this link.. cam only LS2 GTO with a 244/241 cam making 470rwhp and 430 torque STOCK HEAD!!!!

Let us know what he says.
They have their place. It's like anything else it depends on your combo.
From what I have seen from Predator Z's post is an engine with stock intake and heads.

Pred Z had suggested the 230/224 reverse cam for my Firehawk. I was going to use the stock intake/heads and headers. After I picked up a LS6 intake and a set of TEA 5.3 1.5 heads I talked to Geoff who I think actually designed the TR 230 cam. I ended up with a 226/230 .598/.600 112+2 installed on a 109.5 ICL. No donkey dickin here.
