ls1 block with hole in it

Default ls1 block with hole in it
this engine came out of a runnig car. the hole is at the bottom of the back head bolt hole. i guess some one didnt clean out the threads all the way. what yal think? can this block be used and put back in a car? should i get it welded up by a professional machine shop?

if you don't see any stress cracks deburr it and use some head studs.

Was it running without leaking anything before you bought it? It actually looks like you might be ok with it. I would use some silicone sealer on it at least to seal dirt out.

If you didnt hit a coolant passage or oil galley, run it

Looks like a hydrolocked headbolt did that

yes it came out of a running engine. no there were no leaks. i just dont wanna junk a good running block because of this.

As a tip, I recently purchased the ARP head bolt thread cleaner. It was close to $65. Normally I would say that is way to high, however, I used it and it worked wonderful. Well worth the investment to keep things like this happening.
